Why 3D Design? CAD or CAE - what is it anyway?
Computer aided design/draughting or computer aided engineering is widely accepted
as the norm on most engineering projects, regardless of size, but what is CAD/CAE? Well CAD/CAE can mean many different things
to different people - for a lot of people it really means 2D draughting, for producing traditional 2D engineering drawings,
which are the bread and butter of manufacture and construction, allowing machines and buildings to be built.
For some people, CAE can refer to some form of number crunching analytical process
which enables the physical behaviour of a machine or building to be simulated.
3D Design analysis software was once the preserve of large manfacturing
companies, with big R & D budgets, but as a result of the development of software and hardware which has continued apace,
3D Design and Analysis tools have now become much more affordable for small businesses.
GN3D Engineering is committed to using industry leading design and
analysis tools to supplement the range of skills and experience used on engineering projects. GN3D Engineering has selected
Pro ENGINEER, one of the world's leading 3D mechanical design systems, as one of its key design tools.
